Pro Bono
We believe everyone should have effective access to their legal rights.
We care about the way we do business and we are committed to giving back to our communities and stakeholders through our legal pro bono programme, which focuses on supporting low-income entrepreneurs, start-ups and small businesses with free legal advice.
Our aim is to have the greatest possible impact on access to justice and access to opportunity, through deep relationships with our ongoing pro bono clients and by proactively supporting them in addressing systemic issues. Our pro bono clients are clients of the firm: we don't distinguish internally between paid work and pro bono, and often bring together cross-border, cross-practice expertise as needed.
We also often work with legal teams at our corporate clients to support their pro bono activities, and collaborate on projects that meet our shared objectives.
For founders, entrepreneurs and early-stage start-ups looking to establish or grow a business in Cyprus, our pro bono offering typically includes:
- Incorporation of Cyprus companies and advice on the most suitable legal structure
- Preparation of bespoke terms and conditions, tailored to the specific industry and operational model
- Preparation of privacy policies and data protection documentation
- Preparation of confidentiality agreements and other basic commercial documentation for use with customers and partners
- Assistance with business bank account openings
Through our established relationships with business-focused law firms in key jurisdictions around the world, we can also provide continuity of legal support as founders scale internationally or enter into cross-border partnerships.
Beyond the legal work itself, we have spent considerable time building a network of other professional service providers that covers the full lifecycle of what a new business needs — from banking, accounts and audit, tax and VAT registration, through to immigration, office space and real estate.
For businesses at a more advanced stage we can also facilitate introductions to investors, both locally and internationally.
Drawing on our experience of what founders ask us most often, we have also put together a Cyprus Entity and Substance Roadmap — a practical guide to building and maintaining a Cyprus company's substance file in a way that will hold up to bank onboarding, tax-authority review, and investor diligence, with a companion founder's checklist — which we make freely available to anyone who might find it useful.
